Forum : Question about Monsters Special Summoned in face-down defense position.

If a monster is special summoned in face-down defense position (The Shallow Grave, Morphing Jar 2) can it be flipped to face-up attack position in the same turn? If no, a link to the page showing the ruling for that would be appreciated ^^. --Bojack316 22:17, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

You cannot. You Special Summoned the monster, so you cannot change its Battle Position, so you cannot Flip Summon it. See Battle position changes. --Deus Ex Machina (Talk) 22:25, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

Thank you, but 2 more questions. What about monsters special summoned when I attack my opponent's Morphing Jar 2? Also, on that Battle position changes page it mentions you can't change positions if you attacked with the monster that turn (I knew that), but what about cards that have the effect of 'You can flip this card into face-down defense position once per turn'? --Bojack316 23:03, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

A monster cannot change its battle position: 1)the turn it was summoned, 2)or attacked, 3)or had manually changed its battle position. The monsters special summoned by Morphing Jar #2 cannot change manually their battle position, because of the first reason. You can still chance the monster battle position by cards' effects. So you can activate, for example, Guardian Sphinx's effect the turn it was summoned. ATEMVEGETA (Talk) 23:11, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
